Many years ago I took a bartending course and one of the drinks that I remember most from that experience is the martini.  They taught that what made this cocktail dry was a matter of just a few drops of vermouth.  Six drops was semi-dry and three drops was dry.  I’ve stuck with that over the years and definitely like my martinis very dry!

Recipe

3 oz Gin or Vodka

3 drops dry vermouth

Olives or lemon peel for garnish

Combine gin or vodka with dry vermouth in cocktail shaker with ice.  Stir with bar spoon until very cold.  Strain into martini glass and garnish with olives or lemon peel.
